Thinking differently’ in health and care

Fri 11 Oct 2019

'Thinking differently and acting swiftly' are at the heart of a new statement of intent from Health and Social Care Scotland.

Scotland’s health and social care leaders are pledging to work with communities to “think beyond traditional approaches” as they look to radically reshape primary health and care.

The umbrella group of health and social care partnership leaders are focusing on prevention by developing the ‘foundations’ for good health and wellbeing.

They promise a “radical overhaul” of primary and community care services, with more use of technology to help vulnerable people live safely in their own homes instead of hospital or a care home. They also commit to making hospital and emergency services more sustainable by working together at a national and regional level.

They say health and care leaders must “think differently and act swiftly” to support all those involved in care – extending beyond public sector providers to the independent, charitable and voluntary sectors, as well as carers and community groups.
