A plan to increase Aberdeen’s mental health workforce has been approved by the city’s Integration Joint Board.
The Scottish Government’s National Mental Health Strategy 2017–2027 sets out, in a series of ‘Actions’, a 10-year vision for mental health in Scotland. Action 15 of the strategy is a commitment to "increase the workforce to give access to dedicated mental health professionals to all A&Es, all GP practices, every police station custody suite, and to our prisons".
The Aberdeen City Action 15 Plan sets out the intentions of Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership to contribute to the £35 million national plan. Initial funding projections propose that some £3.3million is invested in delivering the Aberdeen plan.
A range of stakeholders, including Aberdeenshire and Moray Health & Social Care Partnerships and the NHS Grampian Acute Sector, worked together develop the plan.
